CLEARFIELD TECHNOLOGY SYSTEM ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
ACCEPTABLE USE
• The use of your account must be in support of your education/employment in the Clearfield Area School District and consistent with the educational objectives of the Clearfield Area School District.
• You are not permitted to get from or put onto the system any copyrighted material (including software), or threatening or
obscene material.
• Harassment, threats, intimidation, and other behavior contrary to the educational goals of the Clearfield Area School District are
prohibited.
• Any violation of school policies, and/or local, state, federal and international laws will not be tolerated, i.e. copyright laws.
Violation could result in being reported to the proper authorities.
• Users are not permitted to use the Clearfield Technology System (CTS) for chat rooms, gambling or gaming.
TECHNOLOGY E-MAIL & ETIQUETTE
• You may not use or play any games via the network, including on-line interactive games.
• You may not monopolize the resources of Clearfield Technology System. This includes things such as running large print jobs,
sending massive amounts of mail to CTS users, or using system resources for games.
• Purposefully annoying other technology users, on or off of the CTS system, is prohibited.
• Be polite. Do not write or send abusive messages to others.
• Use appropriate language. Do not swear, use vulgarities or any other inappropriate language, images, symbols or photos.
• Do not reveal your personal address or phone number or those of other students or colleagues over the Internet.
• Note that electronic mail is not guaranteed to be private. People who operate the system do have access to all mail. Messages
relating to or in support of illegal activities may be reported to the authorities.
• Avoid offensive or inflammatory speech. Users must respect the rights of others both in the local community and in the Internet
at large.
SECURITY & SAFETY
• As a user of this system, users will notify a teacher or system administrator of any violations of this contract taking place by
other CTS users. This may be done anonymously.
• You may not give your password to anyone.
• Illegal activities may not be conducted via the CTS.
• Personal attacks are an unacceptable use of the CTS. If you are the victim of a "flame", bring the incident to the attention of a
teacher or system administrator.
• Impersonation, anonymity, or pseudonyms are not permitted. As an educational system, we believe that individuals must take
responsibility for their actions and words.
VANDALISM
• You may not use or alter any one else’s Internet account. You may not offer Internet access to any individual via your CTS
Internet account.
• You may not break in or attempt to break in to other computer systems.
• You may not create or share computer viruses.
• You may not destroy another person’s data.
LIABILITY
The Clearfield Area School District makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or implied, for the services it is providing. The Clearfield Area School District will not be responsible for any damages you suffer. This also includes loss of data resulting from delays, nondeliveries, misbelievers, or service interruptions caused by negligence, errors or omissions. Use of any information obtained is at your own risk. The Clearfield Area School District specifically denies any responsibility for the accuracy or quality of information obtained through our telecommunication services.
